Check your MAU and MAO

Monthly active users (MAU) and monthly active organizations (MAO) help you track growth and understand usage against your plan.

How MAU is calculated

Kinde counts one MAU for every user who is active during a billing period. A user is active if they have been issued at least one access token. The same user counts as one MAU no matter how many times they sign in.

If a user is created and deleted before signing in, they are not counted in MAU. If a user signs in during a billing period and is deleted in the same period, they are still counted in MAU.

How MAO is calculated

If you are a B2B company, your business customers are managed in Kinde as organizations.

For MAO, an organization is active when it has at least two users, and at least one of those users is active during the billing period (they signed in to the organization).

If an organization is created and deleted in the same monthly billing period, it is counted as MAO only if those conditions are met.

How to check your MAU and MAO

Your monthly active users and total users appear in the Kinde dashboard for quick reference.

For more detail:

1. Sign in to your Kinde dashboard.

2. Open the avatar menu at the bottom left, then select Plan & payments.

3. You will be taken to the Account > Business settings > Plan page.

4. Scroll down to see your monthly active users and monthly active organizations.

   

If you are on a free plan, you can see when you are approaching or exceeding free plan limits. If you are on a paid plan, you can see how costs are tracking in your current billing cycle.
